OUGD505 | STUDIO BRIEF 2 | CONSIDERATIONS

Product:
The product will be an activity pack for children, educating them about veganism and sustainability through food. The pack will be fun, engaging and not forceful. The tone of voice will be friendly and educational, allowing children to make their own choices about what they eat. The product will have facts that have been proven true from reputable sources, so parents can also trust the brand.

The activity pack will be of a high quality finish, including lots of fun things to do, for example, recipe cards, stickers and a meal creator, as well as a 40 page activity booklet. This should keep children engaged for some time. The stock choice and aesthetic need to be considered for this project, due to the age range. The stock should be quite robust as children will be drawing/writing in the book, so it needs to stay in tact. It should also be suitable for using a range of pens/pencils/paints, so a glossy or satin stock would not be appropriate. The binding of the book should also be sturdy and functional. Children aren't interested in the techniques used to bind the book, so staple binding or saddle stitching will be most suitable to keep the book in tact.

Range:
The range of people the product is being aimed at will be children of all genders, between the ages of 6-11. The pack needs to look exciting and engaging so younger children will be attracted to it. The content will be suitable for this age range, giving them simple, fun recipes to cook and activities such as word searches and puzzles to complete. Parents also need to be attracted to the book as they will most likely be purchasing it for their children. Some parents could have quite strong views on the issue, so a gentle tone of voice is extremely important as to not seem forceful upon their children.

Distribution:
To distribute the product it would be sold in well known book retailers such as Waterstones and W H Smiths. Supermarkets would also be targeted because they sell a wide range of products other than food. The activity pack would be sold for a reasonable price as an incentive for parents to buy, and a percentage of the profits will go to Viva!, a UK based charity that aims to spread the message of veganism.
