OUGD505 | STUDIO BREF 2 | RESEARCH: VEGANISM FOR CHILDREN

As children are constantly growing and developing, it's important that they get the right nutrients and a healthy balanced diet. Veganism in children is a touchy subject for some parents, as they believe they can only get the correct nutrients from meat and dairy.

The NHS website states:

A vegan diet for children is completely fine, though parents do need to be more informed about what the child eats and keeping on track of their development.

Other sources for the vegan childrens diet include:

  • The Vegan Society

  • PETA

  • Vegan Resource Group

Often, food needs to be made fun for children, especially if they're trying something new or eating a food they don't like. Zizzi's italian restaurant has recently started including vegan "cheese" as part of it's menu. Zizzi's offer an activity sheet for children to occupy themselves through the wait. Though not strictly vegan, they do ensure that children are happy and do offer the options if they need them.
