OUGD406 - Studio Brief 3 - Day 2

Today we decided to take all of our ideas for a concept and put them to a vote. We managed to narrow it down to the "Re-cover" idea and the "can you stay awake" idea.

In the end we chose Re-cover because it was simple and easy to understand. It would easily fit inside a smaller budget and can definitely be created.
Once we had the title of the exhibition, we began to think of our actual concept. Re-cover is a good name for the exhibition because it links to the work, but it didn't have any actual idea behind it other than that. We decided to think about the ideas of individuality and how this exhibition is about all the first and second years, rather than just one persons exhibition - which is usually the case. We also thought about the constrictions of the brief - the two colours and how we had to print onto a4.
We thought about these ideas and they were all very strong, so we've decided to include all of them within our concept. We would chose two colours to run throughout all of our promotions and collateral. The a4 aspect would be that we would include the proportions of a4 in any way we could, e.g. a4 spacing between each design in the exhibition. We also want to focus on the individuality side and show that everyone within the exhibition has their own style and way of working. We
thought we could make this happen by making the exhibition interactive somehow.

Once we had our ideas and we decided to research and look up some other exhibition posters and invites for inspiration. I created a few pinterest boards, one for the exhibition its self and one for the concept of individuality:

These boards are useful because it has all the images in one place and you can add more whenever you please.

By the end of the day, we had decided who was going to create what within the exhibition:

I'm responsible for the three a3 poster variants and the open night invitations. Before the end of the day, we decided on a colour scheme for the exhibition. We looked on the website coolour (a colour scheme generator), but that gives you five colours and we only needed two. After a while, we decided on a colour scheme. Polly really liked orange and grey so we decided to go with that, and after some time tweaking the colours, our hex codes are BABAB9 for grey and E96E24 for the orange.
